Fred LaBounty is a native Texan living in Harker Heights, Texas. He began his semi-professional career as a photographer
in 1996 working with the Killeen Daily Herald writing travel/photo feature articles.
He became interested in photography while in the U.S. Marine Corp in Japan in 1970. His first camera(which still works)
was a 35mm Canon FT. After years of hobby shooting, he began working as a stringer for the Herald.
His other interests are reading, writing, traveling, old movies, kayaking and road bicycling.
He lives with his wife, Chris, four Boston Terriers, and a Yorkie. His daughter, Laurie, lives in Dallas.
Equipment
We use primarily Canon cameras and lenses, consisting of both 35mm and digital. Lenses range from the Canon EF 16-35mm
2.8L to the Canon EF 600 F4 L IS.
Our medium format equipment is the rugged Pentax 6x7ll camera with lenses ranging from 55mm to 200mm, including a 75mm
shift lens for perspective control.
We use primarily Fuji Velvia, Fuji Velvia F-100 and Fuji Provia F-100 transparancy films. We also use Agfa Scala
200 Professional black and white transparancy film for select subjects.

Photo Credits
Fred LaBounty has been published in Texas Highways, Texas Parks & Wildlife , Popular Photography, Rio Grande
Valley Nature, and the Big Bend Paisano.
He has also had images placed in calendars and on postcards with Smith-Southwestern and Paradise Promotions.
One of his images of George W Bush was displayed in the George Bush Library for six months during the "Two Families-Four
Presidents" exhibition.
Other Projects
Fred LaBounty has also written a action/adventure
novel titled "Catching the Light" now in print from Publish America. A fast, easy read, "Catching the Light" follows the flight of two photographers from corrupt
law enforcement officers they have photographed commiting a murder.
In a chase that takes the reader from
the Rio Grande Valley to the San Antonio Riverwalk, the story offers passion, romance, treachery and violence.
